Unique. Not rare.
Rare diseases affect a select few, but their impact goes far beyond numbers. At SANAS, we shift the focus away from the "rare" and dare to create a holistic approach to access that includes comprehensive support, care, and resources that recognize the unique spirit of patients, their families and care providers, and honor their extraordinary lives.
One in 2,000 people, or about 8% of the general population. According to the World Health Organization, that's the number of people living with one or more of the 7,000 rare diseases known to date. That's about 52 million in Latin America, where the lack of accurate data, registries, and proper diagnosis creates significant gaps in access to better therapies and comprehensive care. At SANAS, we aim to ensure patients receive the support and innovative treatments they need, right at home. Partner with us and help redefine what's possible in rare disease care.
Each unique. Each extraordinary.
Diverse yet connected, rare diseases impact individuals from all walks of life. From neurological disorders to genetic abnormalities, these conditions defy categorization. At SANAS, we embrace their uniqueness, shedding light on these rare diseases and supporting those living with them. Help us make a difference in the lives of those facing these extraordinary challenges.
Behind these numbers are real people, each with unique stories, needs and challenges. We focus on providing access, support and advocating for improved healthcare options, regardless of prevalence rates or where they live. These are only estimates based on diagnosed cases reported in the scarcely data available and may vary across different regions in Latin America. They may not capture all cases due to underdiagnosis and gaps in healthcare access.
